Irish DJ stars Bicep help launch 1Planet4All climate campaign
A NEW Europe-wide climate action campaign has been launched today in Ireland with help from the hugely popular Belfast DJ duo Bicep.
The electronic music stars, Andy Ferguson and Matt McBriar, provided one of their tracks to a 60 second video titled ‘Search: Climate Change’ that is being used by Concern Worldwide to promote the 1Planet4All campaign.
“We were delighted to have this contribution from Bicep as we launch 1Planet4All in the hope that it will inspire more young people to become climate activists,” said Sinead Morgan from Concern’s Active Citizenship team.
The campaign, funded by the European Commission and Irish Aid, is an alliance of 14 organisations across 12 European countries that aims to inspire a new generation of youth activists to lead the fight against the global climate crisis.
Concern is asking people aged between 15 and 30 go online to concern.net/1Planet4All to join the campaign by “putting themselves in the picture.”
Some of the actions participants are asked to take include contacting politicians about their views and wishes on the climate issue.
There will also be 1Planet4All campaign talks at schools and youth organisations.
“Climate change is the one of the biggest challenges we face today,” said Sinead Morgan.
“We see its impact in many parts of the world, especially in countries where Concern works, such as in Bangladesh, which is exceptionally vulnerable as sea levels rise.
“Climate change is also contributing to a rise in levels of hunger and extreme poverty as it devastates lands and eco-systems.
“We are dedicated to working with young people to engage with them on global issues and support them to take action.
“Many of us are inspired by climate activist leaders like Greta Thunberg and we hope to inspire more young people in Ireland to also lead in this global movement.”
